Case Study: Royal William Yard

The Royal William Yard is an award-winning Grade II listed ex-naval victualling yard, which has been regenerated by Urban Splash in recent years to become one of the finest places to work, rest and play in the South West.

We were approached by Urbansplash to design and build a website for the yard to help improve its online presence, which at the time relied on social media channels only. Their vision was to have an online space to showcase the rich variety of activities and attractions on offer at the yard.

We created a minimalist layout that placed the focus on the great photography of the yard and surrounding areas. The large amount of content needed to be shown on the website meant that a lot of careful planning went into the design to ensure it remained simple while still allowing visitors to find everything they needed to.

Fonts & Colours

The site uses Urbansplash's custom font for headings, and Droid Serif google font for the body.

For the colour scheme, we opted for a simple yet sleek combo of dark and light grays, along with a bright red which had previously been used in early yard marketing leaflets.
